Plymouth Mexican fare: No longer an oxymoron

While Plymouth has many fine restaurants, perhaps its greatest culinary boost comes from the quantity and quality of Mexican dining.

  1. Salena, at 170  Water Street, along the waterfront, replaced the now-defunct Waterfront Bar & Grill.  Serving more Southwestern dishes than strict Mexican food, Salena offers a fusion menu that includes Mexican dishes, among them chick-pea tacos with Moroccan flavors.
  2. Anejo Mexican Bistro, downtown at 51 Main Street, replaced Sam Diegos and has an extensive Mexican menu and drinks, of course.
  3. La Bamba Tacos & Tequila, formerly a Dunkin Donuts, has ample parking at 15 Sandwich Street, lying just off Court St. across from Strega’s Italian restaurant.
  4. Boating a cozy atmosphere, Ocho Café at 275 Colony Place, serves contemporary Mexican fare and a large tequila selection.
  5. Heading toward North Plymouth, Jefes Betta Bar and Grill, at 390 Court St., offers eat-in and takeout.  Try $4 Taco Tuesdays (eat-in only).
