Plymouth’s Camelot Drive is an industrial road hidden from a lot of Plymouth residents. Yet one could easily make a pleasant morning, afternoon or even evening on Camelot Drive, visiting hidden gems that range from The Jolly Bean Café, Healthy Appetites Natural Foods, the bakery Hearth Artisan Bread, J.J Materials, and IndieFerm – a craft brewery, taproom and homebrew supply shop.
If you have dropped off brush at the DPW site near the huge white energy windmill, you have been on Camelot Drive.
CRAFT BEERS & KOMBUCHAS
IndieFerm (Independent Fermentations Brewing) has the biggest news: “We just got our permit today to double our (3,000-square-foot) space and seating,” said owner and brewer Paul Nixon. IndieFerm brews on site and sells craft beers with Belgium and German styles as well as kombuchas (fermented teas). Kombuchas, which Nixon is happy to have you taste test, comprise 25 percent of the business.

This spring, IndieFerm will resume occasional outdoor music by local players and bands. (Nixon, himself, plays sax, guitar and accordian, and sings with The Shady Roosters, which plays rockabilly and blues at the Spire Center (another Plymouth treasure) every two weeks. February 11 is the band’s next Spire gig.)
At Indie Ferm “we make a lot more than just New England IPAs,” Nixon reports. “There are so many ways to combine water, malt, hops and yeast that there is no need to go crazy with other flavorings:”
Indie Ferm is open every day except Monday and Wednesday. The brewery frequently holds classes on brewing beer, and making kombucha, cheese, and other fermentation products.
IndieFerm, at 127 Camelot Drive, can be reached at 508-746-4634, info@IndependentFermentations.com, and Facefacebook..com/IndieFerm. Visit: www.IndependentFermentations.com

While visiting Hearth Artisan Bread (the bakery at 123 Camelot Drive), you will find it difficult to leave the story empty handed. While my wife, Beth and I, love its huge bagels, we find them to be more like tasty rolls than New-York-style chewy bagels. Find its hours at (774) 773-9388 and info@hearthartisanbread.com.

BROUSE ITS HARDSCAPING AND LANSCAPING AILES
J&J Materials, at 137 Camelot Drive, sells a large variety of hardscaping, landscaping, and masonry products. Its showroom is great to give homeowners ideas and to check products that their contractors may be using in their yards. I had J&J deliver three 500-pound granite steps to my home last summer, which my hardscaper and I put in place sans machinery. Call 508-746-6111 and see: www.jjmaterials.com.

JOLLY BEAN CAFÉ
Jolly Bean Café, at 88 Camelot Drive, has both takeout and casual “customizable” breakfast and brunch seating, and great “caffeinated beverages”. Says a Plymouth regular, “The place feels like home, the help is always friendly, and the food is fantastic.” Jolly Bean is owned by Jaresiah Desrosiers, former manager of Kiskadee Coffee (also a wonderful breakfast and lunch spot, but located on Plymouth’s downtown Court Street. Contact Jolly Bean for hours at: (508) 747-2326 and hello@jollybeancafe.com

Camelot Drive is off Long Pond Road and at the end of the 5 Shops Way Road, past Planet Fitness and B.J.’s.
