I am personally distraught that the State only requires homeowners to perform a septic inspection before they sell their properties. I would much prefer that the state mandate that all homeowners inspect their septic system at least every 10 years, regardless of their plans to convey their properties. Properly working septic systems are too important to our environment to do otherwise.
With that in mind, residents should be aware that the Town of Plymouth provides an attractive Title 5 Septic Loan Program for residents who must update or repair their septics. Loans are at 5% interest for periods of either 5, 10, or 15 years. Note: These loans are not designed for residents to update systems in order to sell their properties.

Loans are provided without a credit check, although all of your real estate taxes, water bills, or any other municipal accounts must be paid and up to date. You just fill out a simple loan application. Once approved, the applicant will be required to sign a Betterment Agreement, which will be recorded at the Plymouth Registry of Deeds.
Loan payments are due bi-annually as part of your property tax bill.
For your septic inspection, Beth and I recommend Dave Walsh at (774) 404-4082 and Dwalsh3@Comcast.net. Dave charges around $600 which includes the price of Town’s $50 permit. Plymouth provides a list of local septic system installers.

My wife, Beth Davis, and I urge you to do your part to protect Plymouth’s fragile environment and sole-source aquifer for our drinking water.
