55+ homeowners: Free seminars planned to help decide your next move

Many 55+ homeowners will opt to stay in their current homes, but fail to make needed retrofits to best accommodate Senior living.  Others nearing or at retirement age will choose to seek their next home/lifestyle – either downsizing or “right-sizing”.  This move will take them across town, across state, or out of the area.

Either way, to weigh your options and considerations, consider attending free lively seminars now being planned at both the Plymouth Public Library and Plymouth Senior Center.

Here from someone who made “The Move” a decade ago – Steve Feldman, a Senior Real Estate Specialist, along with Senior Legal Planner David Kiley, attorney at Plymouth’s Triffletti & Costa.

  1. Staying put? What retrofits will you need to your home, including bathroom grab bars and installation of much-improved and reasonably-priced residential elevators?
  2. Do you know if an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU), now legal in Massachusetts, is in your future? Will you, your kids, or tenants (who help defray living expenses), reside in the ADU – built on the site of your existing home?  What financing options exist to build your ADU and what local contractors specialize in building them, offering free drawings of several options.
  3. If a move is in your future, how will you best utilize the equity in your existing home, and time your sale with the purchase of your new home/lifestyle?
  4. Have you considered the many benefits of a government-insured reverse mortgage?
  5. Have you legally protected your real-estate and money assets to safeguard you and your family’s financial future?

If interested in attending one of these upcoming seminars, or would like to talk to SRES Specialist Steve Feldman, simply reply to this message.
