WILL YOUR DOG BE FEATURED IN PUPS OF PLYMOUTH?

Does your dog have what it takes to be featured in a forthcoming coffee-table book, Pups of Plymouth?

Plymouth’s Katie Carmickle Photography will be choosing 24 “unique Plymouth dogs” to be highlighted in the limited-edition book – to benefit, in part, the Friends of the Plymouth Center for Active Living.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your amazing canine companion,” says Katie Carmickle, who is self-publishing the book through Marathon Press.

Interested dog owners may apply on her website at: www.KatieCarmickle.com/PupsOfPlymouth

There is no fee to apply. Accepted applicants who choose to participate will pay a $295 registration fee, which will include:

  • A professional outdoor photo session with your dog,
  • A 2-page spread in Pups of Plymouth,
  • A $50 donation to the Friends of the Plymouth Center for Active Living, and
  • A $500 “bonus” credit toward any framed portrait or image collection of your canine, if desired.

Carmickle says her goal is to raise $2500 for the Friends of the Plymouth Center for Active Living. “I expect to exceed that!”

Is it a deal breaker for your dog to make the coffee-table book. if it won’t sit and stay?  “Not at all,” she says. “I love action shots, and you can keep your dog on leash the whole session.”  Carmickle can remove the leash in Photoshop.

The coffee-table book will feature dogs “living their best lives in beautiful Plymouth locations.

The book will be published in early 2025, she reports.

Carmickle moved from Syracuse, N.Y. to Plymouth’s Manomet neighborhood about one year ago to be close to her parents.

“My husband, Frank, is blind, and we had a guide dog named Sullivan, a yellow lab, from Guiding Eyes for the Blind, for 11 years,” Carmickle says. Sullivan passed in 2022. “I am eager to get another dog, but Frank wants to take a break from the responsibility for a few years. In the meantime, I’m grateful that I have the chance to meet and interact with lots of special dogs through my photography business.

“There are about 10,000 dogs in the town of Plymouth!” she reports. “My book project is a unique opportunity for people to share and celebrate what’s special about their dog, and I’m so excited about it!  For me and my clients, it’s all about the experience and memories from that experience.”

Carmickle meets with clients before their session to show them product samples that include her custom-designed albums.  Collectively, she and the clients talk and agree where in their home they will enjoy seeing their images. “I take pictures of their walls and load them into a special software program, so they can see exactly what a particular framed arrangement will look like in their own home. It’s really fun.”

She recommends the style of frame to best fit the style of house and the location within the house. “I also deliver and personally install any wall art that my clients purchase.  They absolutely love that service, and it’s great to be there to see their reaction when it all comes together.”

“I’ve done everything from framed pictures of kids, pets and my clients’ extended family.”

For now, though, Carmickle’s principal focus is on a family’s “treasured hounds.”
